Meandering trail through the woods in the spring

At Trailscape, we have a wide variety of clients in a wide variety of locations. Each client has specific needs with specific terrain, which is why we build each trail to suit both our client and their land. We also understand that having a private trail requires some maintenance throughout the year. While this can be a welcomed activity for some, for others it can be just another task on their to-do list. Regardless of your preference, we are here to assist you.

For those of you who enjoy rolling up your sleeves and stewarding your land, here is how to best maintain your trail on a regular basis and in particular for this spring season. Or if you'd prefer to have this maintenance done for you, simply skip down to our Contact Us section. Let us take care of your trail maintenance so you can enjoy the great outdoors stress-free.

And for our prospective clients who may be considering a build, this is an important topic to keep in mind. Would you prefer to maintain your trail with your own two hands, or would you prefer to have it done for you? For more considerations, keep reading!

Springtime Trail Maintenance

This is when the most maintenance occurs. Here are some tips to get you started:

  1. Walk your trail and identify areas that need attention, such as weed control, brush clearing, fallen tree and debris removal, and erosion control.

  2. Keep a 4-5 feet clearance on either side of the trail to create a natural firebreak.

  3. Inspect and maintain your trail at least 4 times a year, or roughly once every three months.

By completing these springtime trail maintenance tasks it helps to remove vegetation that may have grown into the trail corridor, which could in turn create hazards for you and your family who walk on the trail. This keeps your labor to a minimum and your trail enjoyment capacity at a maximum!

Are You Ready to Build? Our Best Tips For You:

Spring is the perfect time to start planning your custom trail build. While your land is beginning to flourish but not yet overgrown, we encourage you to explore your property. Find the nooks and crannies that are typically inaccessible during other times of the year and imagine being able to freely and safely wind through your wilderness, taking full advantage of what your land has to offer.

In addition, in early spring we can typically get to a new build within a couple of weeks. However, as the good weather persists we can backlog somewhere between one to four months.

In addition, you may also want to take into consideration how long your trail could potentially be and if the option of a legacy build is interesting to you? This is where we split a build into 2-4 sections and build each section at varying times. Thus providing enjoyment now and anticipated new builds for the future.

In closing, whether you have a trail, are looking to add on to your build, or are considering investing in your land and property these are a few of our springtime trail maintenance and building tips.
